On June 24, just two years ago, the Supreme Court issued the landmark Dobbs decision that changed federal law regarding abortion. Here in Arkansas, it was a great day for celebration because, as a consequence of that decision, abortion became illegal in our state. That saved the lives of thousands of babies.
But now, the good laws in Arkansas are under attack. The proposed Arkansas Abortion Amendment would change our state constitution and bring the evil practice of abortion back to Arkansas. There is a signature collection drive underway to put the Arkansas Abortion Amendment on our voting ballots. Please don’t sign that petition.
Let’s pray to stop the Arkansas Abortion Amendment. Holy Cross has received a Novena to pray for a greater respect for every human life (available in English and in Spanish). Please pray that supporters of this terrible amendment won’t collect enough signatures for it to get on the ballot.
As the deadline for signature collection rapidly approaches, the efforts and pressure to get people to sign the petition are soaring like our summer temperatures. We encourage everyone in the parish community to join in these prayers to stop the Arkansas Abortion Amendment.
Copies of the Novena are available in the foyer in both English and Spanish.
